In Rev Glynn Cardy's sermon he explores the phrase 'Word of God', a phrase that pre-dated Jesus and later was applied to Jesus. It's also a phrase that has been uncritically applied to the Bible. He suggests it refers to an animating spirit of LIFE, which brings grace and hope. Further, he suggests, if we replace the 'word of the LORD' phrase in the Bible with 'word of LIFE' we might get a better sense of how Jesus was experienced by his early followers and their communities.
